Kashmir rewards travellers all year round, but each season offers a completely different valley.
Spring, from March to May, brings the famous Tulip Garden in bloom against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks — the most photogenic time to visit Srinagar.
Summer, from June to August, is ideal for Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg, and the only window for the Srinagar–Leh highway and the Great Lakes trek.
Winter, from December to February, blankets Gulmarg in snow and opens it up for skiing and snowboarding. Whichever season you choose, book your houseboat and hotels early — the best ones fill up months in advance.
